Straight answers about how we handle data — and how we don't.
Your patient's data stays in your patient's home.
Every care record — every vital, every diary note, every medication log — lives on the Handoff device. Not on a server in another state. Not in a cloud database owned by a company you've never heard of. In the home where the care happens.
We have no access to your records.
Handoff is a local-first device. The vendor (us) never has access to the patient's care record. We cannot read it, modify it, or delete it. We do not have a backdoor. We do not have an admin panel that shows your data.
What leaves the device?
The data leaves the device twice:
- Once each night: the family summary email, sent to addresses the admin controls.
- Once each week: the CSV export, emailed to addresses the admin controls.
That's it. No analytics. No telemetry. No "product improvement" data collection.
HIPAA and compliance
Handoff is designed with a local-first, privacy-protective architecture. The care record lives on the device in the patient's home, not on a cloud server. Whether your specific home care practice is subject to HIPAA, and whether Handoff satisfies your obligations under HIPAA, depends on your practice type and structure. Independent nurses who are not covered entities under HIPAA are not subject to its requirements in the same way that hospitals or agencies are. We strongly recommend consulting a compliance advisor if you have questions about your specific situation.
No tracking, no cookies, no analytics
This marketing website does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or cookies. The Handoff device itself does not use analytics. There is no "phone home."
